For daycare centers, elementary schools, secondary schools (SEK I and SEK II), colleges, and adults
We invite you on a journey underground. Who lives in the soil? Why are soil organisms important for our survival? We’ll answer these and other questions together on this field tour and explore life beneath the Weltacker. For example, we’ll learn about nodule-forming bacteria and their amazing ability to work together with plants. Through hands-on activities, we’ll have fun discovering the invisible ecosystem of the soil.
After the field tour, children, teens, and adults will:
Our field tours take place in the morning from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Since we’ll be outdoors, please wear weather-appropriate clothing—sun protection if it’s hot and rain gear if it rains.
If you have any special requests—such as being unable to visit the Weltacker during standard hours—please indicate this in your inquiry.
The Weltacker in Pankow and the Ackerlabor at the Späth’sche Baumschule are accessible without steps. In rainy weather, maneuvering a wheelchair can be a bit difficult—we’re happy to help!
Funded by the Senate Department for the Environment; the soil microphones were funded by the Foundation for Nature Conservation.
We want everyone to be able to visit us—including groups that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it. Thanks to funding from the Senate Department for Mobility, Transportation, Climate Protection, and the Environment, we’re able to offer these tours.
If your school or group can cover the cost of 150 € per tour on your own, we’d appreciate your support!
